You have much better chance of me hearing you if you are making some noise.Ĭlick to expand.I would actually have to disagree. I say if it stops even 1% of accidents, then it works.Īlso, when I have to pull out of a blind driveway or street, I roll my window down and listen for cars/motorcycles. It seems like a lot of the naysayers are stuck in 'black or white thinking' in the sense that they believe because there is no guarantee of loud exhaust stopping literally 100% of accidents, that means it doesnt work. But if it saves you just once that's enough. It won't save you every time, or even most of the time, for that matter. Its not a guarantee of your safety, but its like the audible equivalent of hi-viz. But if I ride a bike with the loud pipe it has never happened ever because they are fully aware there is a bike directly next to them. Ive ridden the bike about 1500 miles and its happen a dozen times. Often I get two people do it within just a few moments of each other. When I ride my FZR600 with the stock exhaust on I-95 near NYC I get people changing lanes into me constantly. The loud pipe isn't going to save you if you are overtaking, or coming up on people at ludicrous speed, but if you are riding in heavy traffic congestion on a truly quiet motorcycle, like at the same speed as the traffic around you, people will absolutely change lanes into you constantly.
